Again, new website soon

Last Updated on 02 April 2017 | Written by CodeAsm

Technological progress demands humans that can work with it.
I find updating my site by use of a CMS very convoluted for just adding some text or info. maybe Ill regret it, but this is my personal website anyway.
Gonna drop the cms and go full html maybe :D (more website updates because I can keep track of stuff.)

Or some basic system, atleast we need progress :D
This site is on and ill try to keep most pages stay somehow (more static) and so google results should stay working... Im still thinking about the how.
A wiki is maybe too much aswell, so something like what sprite_tm has or the Thomas Scherrer Z80-Family Official Support Page. ;) very basic, informational and time resistant. (and you can visit them from most browsers)

Also, joomla so old... updating the tricky thing, I havent been hacked but I dont like those risks at all. (maybe some better comment system aswell ;) one that doesnt require me to add weird inline codes and users to have a facebook account. someone suggested Wordpress.... yeah... like that doesnt need updates? )

Also, I uploaded a soundless video of Xqemu on my Linux laptop, unedited, so thats the speed I get ;)
(games still break or slow, no audio)

Broadcom Wireless cards and Lenovo E530 Bios UEFI Whitelist

Wireless card

Its a trouble maker, a soldering iron fire starter. The Lenovo E530 I got two(already!)years ago can sometimes be a pain.
First I destroyed the filesystem, then I borked the Bootsequence and last time I beeped flipped the Bios/Uefi variables completly.

I save those boot errors for another blog, when I try refashing it.
Wich actualy started my research for COreboot or just removing/altering the Whitelist of my beloved Lenovo.

Wait what? if you never heard of Bios whitelists, or whitelists for hardware, go read here:

So yes, My lenovo has a whitelist and I do not agree.

Click the readmore button to view some awesome images of the card without shield cover and my further research:

Blog update

Last Updated on 21 August 2015 | Written by CodeAsm

Well thats odd, ive not been updating my blog for a while but I do have lots and lots of ideas for "great" blog posts, video blogs and wishes to change my website "again".

So instead of working behint the scene with code and never showing anything, instead of month of silence, im gonna use my blog as a note book.

Started a year back or so I began using a paper book for notes, mainly because I lose focus or just have to get rid of ideas that roam my mind.

So ill give this joomla cms system a change again, hope it wont fail me. And you will see some more updates in the couple of days :D

BIG important other news, im married :D (jeej) and also I do my Thesis on OCR for a company in Amsterdam.

FEw things I currently work on and hope to make some updates on are:

  • Runix, Linux for the playstation classic
  • Xqemu, the xbox emulator, lets try compiling it and run some code on shall we
  • GPG, someday I need to give you my public hair... I mean key. and its pubic hair, cubic?
  • MCPX/Chihiro fix, yeah, got one, but its broken, ill try fixing it
  • Zilog computer, somehow I would like to make one of my own.
  • XBox live homebrew, done some research and like to share some with you.
  • Comment system and blogpost engine, this joomla thing isnt for me...
  • Videoblogs :D I like them, want to post my own aswell... gonna start some filming.

Downloading ooyala video's or how I viewed a m3u8 on my windows phone.

Last Updated on 05 February 2015 | Written by CodeAsm

Neil deGrasse Tyson posted a video on his blog today and I wanted to watch it on my mobile phone.

I could have just watched it because its very small but no, I realy wanted the video offline.

And lucky us, ooyala provides a link to embeded the video, in such a way, that we have a direct link to their playlist. or apparantly, a m3u8 is a kind of stream playlist.

Some google and bing minutes later and I got the following website:

basicly saying:

ffmpeg can download it with the following command line:

Code: ffmpeg -i inputvideo.m3u8 outputvideo.ts

So yes, after I downloaded ffmpeg (realy handy) I later got a ts file, thats basicly a mp2 file like settop boxes use for streams.

altho I could have tried converting the file, windows mediaplayer and VLC just play it.

and while I copied the file to my Windows Phone 8.1, he said "This device does not support playing this file, would you like to convert it?" I clicked yes and there was a WMV file, with audio and video on my mobile :D

Thanks for reading, the more you know :D

OPS introduction

Last Updated on 14 October 2014 | Written by CodeAsm

The following project is about a christian religious software program, the "hacks" and tricks are not religious intended and I strongly suggest you refrain yourself for letting any comments of such topic that involve religion, believe or "facts" in the comments section. Ive not had any problems so far and not so much comments in general, lets keep it professional and on the topic. Thank you.

A few years go I used a program to present song-text to a screen using a beamer in a local church. This software is not unique, many options are available even freeware. When we (church, my dad and a good friend of mine) searched for other, free options or software to use at home we discovered that the Dutch organisation responsible for legal distribution only offers a software package digitally containing the lyrics and no other digital resource was "legaly" availeble.

Tobedone: the legal reasons of song-texts and internet. Basically, for personal use  you pay a fee when you buy a lyrics book from the official retailer. Opwekking is selling all kinds of books and songbooks. basically its legally impossible to obtain the text for free, or visit a church, where the church pays Opwekking to present and play the music. Im no lawyer, I dont want to be one and you should educate yourself before plaming me for whatever reasons.

Back to the software, OPS stands for OpwekkingsPresentatieSoftware and all versions appear to be called Pro (professional) but no other versions appear to be existing.
Also it apeared to be made availeble on CD in as early as 2004. wich could be version 1. Early contact with the programmer appear the software was done in Delphi and later versions done in a small team in C# with WPF and .net 3.0 at least. For this reason the software can not easily ported to Mac or Linux. Wine and mono seem unable to run the software, but legal free software is available and copies of the lyrics can be obtained, legal use is allowed after paying the right organisations.
